SMC-600R – Hitch Mounted Sport Motorcycle Carrier Installation

Today we’re showing you how to properly install
the SMC-600R Motorcycle Carrier from Rage Powersports. To begin slide the Anti-Tilt device onto the
Main Hitch Tube of the carrier. With another person, install the Carrier and
align the 1/2” hole on the Main Hitch Tube with the vehicle hitch pin hole. Slide the Pinch Bolt and Sleeve into place
and tighten using 2 17mm sockets or wrenches. Next slide the Anti-Tilt device forward until
flush against the hitch and finger tighten all bolts. Once finger tight use a 17mm socket
or wrench to firmly tighten. After the carrier is secure, unscrew the wing-nuts
and remove the loading ramp from the storage pins. Align the Loading Ramp mounting pin with the
mounting hole on the Carrier Track. Before loading, it is recommended that you
have two ratchet straps attached and ready on the front tie-down points. It is also recommended that you attach 4 soft
loops to the motorcycle to create safe and proper tie-down points before loading. With the motorcycle in line with the loading
ramp and another person to assist, smoothly push the motorcycle up the ramp, into the
carrier track with the front wheel resting in the wheel chock and cradle. If there is excess room you will have to remove
the motorcycle from the carrier and adjust the wheel chock to the proper wheel size. When the wheel chock is properly sized, the
front of your motorcycle will sit up off of the Carrier Track. After your motorcycle is installed on the
carrier, attach all 4 tie-down straps to the soft loops. Be sure all straps are tight and
secure. Once the bike is secure, tie up any excess
strapping from the tie downs. After the motorcycle is secure, store the
loading ramp back on the carrier and Secure with wing nuts. Before transport and periodically during travel,
ensure the motorcycle is properly tied down, the carrier is tight in the receiver hitch,
and that all parts of the carrier are secure. Thank you for watching this demonstration
video on how to properly install the SMC-600R Motorcycle Carrier from Rage Powersports.

  1. I wonder how well this would work on my truck? I have an 04' quad cab dodge ram. The problem is, my truck is slammed with a 4"-6" drop kit. Not sure how the weight being directly on my hitch would affect my truck at highway speed. ( rear tires bottoming out on fender). Im running srt 10 wheels with low profile tires as well. They're pretty wide so that's why im worried about the rubbing.

  2. Hi Jezeyy, You would need a Class III or greater 2" x 2" hitch receiver on your vehicle and your motorcycle would have to weight under 600lbs for this product.

  3. Hi theExtremi,
We sell a Motorcycle Carrier Taillight Kit if you would like to add some extra brake lights. The part number is VH-TK. Also you can easily drill holes in the carrier tray to accommodate a license plate

  4. Where? I went to your website and searched. It just shows an article saying that you might need lights. Well, duh!

  5. Freewill51, If you go to our website and search part number VH-TK it should give you a list of products that work with the lights. Click on one of those products and scroll down to the Recommended Accessories and it should be the first product

  6. Hi momp0,
If you click the link in the video description it will take you the product page on our site. We have all the measurements for the carrier on that page. You will have to measure your vehicle to make sure the carrier will fit properly. If you have any questions please contact customer service at 1-888-651-3431

  7. Hi TheDataZoo,
The SMC-600R will not work on that type of vehicle. It depends on how much weight your suspension can handle not the type of hitch you have. Also on a vehicle that low the carrier would be dragging on the ground if you were to go up a slight incline.

  8. Hi Voivrenetwork,
Your vehicles need to have a Class III or greater 2" x 2" hitch receiver and your motorcycle can not exceed 600lbs. 9. Hi 120506torque, Unfortunately the SMC-600R Motorcycle Carrier will not work with your motorcycle. The SMC-600R's carrier tray is 78.75"in length making it to short for your transport needs. We do offer a variety of motorcycle trailers that would work with your bike. Please visit our website for more information on our motorcycle trailers

  10. Hi Bradley, If the motorcycle you are carrying is to big and covers your taillights, we do offer a few taillight kits that can be mounted directly to the SMC-600R. If you click the link in the video description it will take you to our website where you can search for the – Moto-Tote Motorcycle Carrier Tail Light Kit or VersaHaul Motorcycle Carrier Tail Light Kit. I would put the direct links in this reply but youtube does not allow that. If you have any other questions please call 1-888-651-3431

  11. Hi @dmanshouse1,
The 2012 ZX14R curb weighs 584.3 lbs. The SMC-600R weight capacity is 600lbs. If you were to use the SMC-600R you would be pushing it to its max. I would suggest looking into the VersaHaul Sport Motorcycle Carrier on our site or one of the motorcycle trailers we carry
